IYSA conducts professional training of instructors.
An instructor is a profession that allows you to do what you love, getting from your work not only pleasure but also income.
Instructor training courses include:

  • Theory and psychology of training and working with cadets.
  • Study of training and testing methods.
  • Developing the instructor’s personal leadership skills.
  • Advanced training in sea rescue and first aid.
  • Increasing the level of knowledge in meteorology and navigation.
  • Improving the skills of control and organization of the safety of the training process.
  • Gaining Financial Skills as an Instructor.

Requirements for candidates to take the Instructor Course for Recreational Boat Operators

  • The age of the cadet is 18 years.
  • IYSA Certified Yachtmaster Offshore or equivalent certification from another certification agency.
  • First certified Aid for first aid from any certifying organization.
  • 2000 nm sailing as skipper and/or sailing crew member in at least three different waters.
  • At least 24 night time watch hours on the sea.
  • The cadet must provide confirmation of the absence of medical contraindications for sailing and swimming by filling out a medical questionnaire or providing a medical certificate from a doctor.

Upon successful completion of the Instructor Training Course for Recreational Boat Operators and passing the examination tests, the candidate is awarded the title of Instructor.

IYSA Instructors are exempt from paying annual membership fees for the first five years of their career as an instructor.
